Application: Live Out Love

Love Like Jesus - - Part 3
-----

Matthew 10:8-9 records Jesus' commands as he sends out the twelve. He orders them (not asks them) to "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." You can take as much or as little stock in that as you want, but keep in mind that this is straight from the bible. It means what it says.

So does this strike you as a petty request from Christ, or maybe a direct order? I'd say it was the latter. To be a Christian means that we choose to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Matthew 22:7 tells us that the greatest commandment is to love God and love people. We are called to take this radical love that will not ever make sense to the world and give it freely out to the nations. We don't work for any earthly rewards, but for the treasure we will receive in heaven.

When we know Christ, His love is inside of us. We possess the love of the Father in are earthly bodies through the dwelling of the Holy Spirit. To not share this is a sin of omission. A sin of omission is not doing something that we are supposed to do. That's the nasty side effect to not living the way that Christ wants us to. He calls us to love like the Father. He lavishes his love on us. His love is beyond comprehension (just look at 1 Corinthians 13). The point is, we should live out love. We have received a free gift that we are commanded to share with others. Our lives should reflect are love. Are you living life under the influence of the Love of Christ? Are you revealing Christ's love? Live out Love.
